Our Gluten Free Bakery & Eatery is owner run and adopts a farm-to-table approach with a focus on creating a stronger connection to your food. The owner, Fran van Tiddens, decided after lockdown in 2020 to rebrand and relocate the then Chelsea Cafe (at Chelsea Village) to Babette’s Bakery & Eatery. Babette is the name of her youngest daughter, a celiac, and the inspiration for the plenty gluten free options on the menu.

Babette's is a beautiful and intimate space that lends itself to private functions, events and intimate weddings.

Babette’s is famous for it’s Croque Monsieur, Eggs Benedict, Brekkie burger, delicious curries and salads. Our gluten free sourdough and muffins have a firm following. We make everything in house from scratch, such as our beetroot chutney, Thai green curry paste, mayonnaise, harissa paste and hollandaise, which we use in our much loved dishes.

We cater specifically for people with food allergies and intolerances. Babette’s is fully licensed and serves Waterkloof wines, craft gin and beer.
